US LNG producers’ credit outlook strong through 2027, Fitch says
Contract flexibility, strong demand and reliable project execution are bolstering credit profiles of US and Canadian LNG producers, Fitch Ratings said. Longer-term credit upside could fade as competition intensifies, build costs rise and demand visibility weakens, leaving producers reliant on tighter capital discipline and low-cost expansions, analysts warn.
Vietnam’s first LNG-to-power plants to grid-connect this week
Nhon Trach 3 & 4, Vietnam’s first LNG-fuelled power stations with 1.6 GW capacity, will be grid-synchronized before the end of this week. Dong Nai's Department of Industry and Trade disclosed the 500 kV Nhon Trach 4/ Phu My/ Nha Be power line – one of four lines built to accommodate electricity from the two plants – is scheduled to start operating by November 15.
Sri Lanka wants coal power projects to be converted to LNG
China Machinery Engineering Corp (CMEC) is evaluating a 500 MW LNG-fuelled power project in Hambantota, southern Sri Lanka, which is meant to expanded to 1,000 MW at a later stage. President Maithripala Sirisena pushes for another 500 MW LNG-to-power plant just north of Colombo as he seeks to scrap coal-fired projects, or have them converted to natural gas.
