ExxonMobil, on behalf of the Rovuma LNG Area 4 partners, has awarded about $1.1 billion in pre-investment contracts for long-lead upstream equipment, a move designed to push the long-delayed Mozambique project toward a final investment decision (FID) later this year.

Egypt is close to sealing a multi-year LNG supply deal that could lock in 15 to 18 cargoes a month for at least three years. Reuters calculations put the deal value at $8-11 billion a year, depending on pricing and volume, with final terms still under negotiation.

ABB has been contracted by Bechtel to deploy an automation platform for Trains 4 and 5 of the Rio Grande LNG project in Brownsville, Texas, as the plant moves to its full 30 mtpa production capacity.

Japan’s JERA has signed a six-year throughput agreement with Dunkerque LNG for 2 bcm/y, equivalent to about 1.5 mtpa of regas capacity starting 2031. The agreement complements JERA’s 5.5 mtpa of new US LNG supply under flexible FOB contracts.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has awarded a contract worth nearly $1 billion to a consortium led by PowerChina and Lilama for the construction of the Quang Trach II LNG-fuelled power plant. Situated in the central province of Quang Tri, the plant will have a total installed capacity of 1,612 MW.

Malaysia’s Petronas has inked a 20-year sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with QatarEnergy for up to 2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG. The deal, signed at the LNG2026 trade show in Doha, marks the first long-term LNG supply contract between the two state-owned energy giants.

China is preparing to list Yuan-denominated LNG futures on the Shanghai Futures Exchange as early as February in a bid to bolster pricing power of its state-owned LNG importers CNOOC, CNPC, Sinopec and PetroChina.

Turkey’s state energy company Botas has renewed its pipeline gas contract with Russia’s Gazprom, keeping volumes unchanged at 21.8 bcm/y. Analysts say this removes much of the upside risk to Turkey’s LNG demand in 2026.

Puerto Rico’s financial oversight board has approved a revised LNG supply agreement between Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) and New Fortress Energy affiliate NFEnergía. The revision is expected to save the country more than $4 billion in fuel costs over the duration of the contract.

US developer Glenfarne has selected Baker Hughes to supply refrigerant compressors for the Alaska LNG terminal and power generation equipment for the North Slope gas treatment plant. Baker Hughes also pledged a “strategic investment” in the project.
