UTM Offshore is forging ahead with Nigeria’s first floating LNG project after securing a 15-year gas supply agreement that removes one of the biggest obstacles to reaching final investment decision (FID), now expected in Q4-2026.

Caturus has taken a final investment decision (FID) on its 9.5 mtpa Commonwealth LNG export project in Louisiana, supported by $9.75 billion in total financing and several long-term offtake agreements. Construction just begun, with first LNG targeted in late 2029 and full operations by 2030.

Squamish-based Woodfibre LNG has reached 65% completion with the arrival of its powerhouse module at site, the 16th module delivered to date. Construction is due completed in 2027.

Golar LNG is holding off fresh capital for its fourth floating LNG unit, citing deteriorating yard economics. The 3.5 mtpa unit had been scheduled for delivery in late 2027 with not deployment location confirmed as yet.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has awarded a contract worth nearly $1 billion to a consortium led by PowerChina and Lilama for the construction of the Quang Trach II LNG-fuelled power plant. Situated in the central province of Quang Tri, the plant will have a total installed capacity of 1,612 MW.

The price of building gas-fired power plants in the US has risen to $2,200–$2,500 per kilowatt of capacity, raising doubt about projects economics and freeing up more feedgas for LNG exports. At the Energy Finance Conference in San Diego, panellists warned that building a modern combined-cycle gas power plant now requires hundreds of millions in upfront investment – notably $25 million deposits to secure key equipment.

Woodside Energy gears up to officially break ground on the $17.5 billion Louisiana LNG facility today – the biggest direct foreign investment in the state’s history. Planned production capacity is up to 16.5 mtpa, with first LNG targeted in 2029.

Developers of Freeport LNG have filed to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for a 40-month extension to complete Train 4 expansion. If granted, the extension would postpone the in-service deadline from August 1, 2028, to December 1, 2031.

Sempra Infrastructure has resumed construction on the plant’s 13 mtpa Phase 1 foundations, after works were halted a fortnight ago due to a scaffolding collapse. Still, targeted FID on Porth Arthur LNG Phase 2 in the third quarter of 2025 remains in place.

PV Gas, part of PetroVietnam, has agreed with state utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to deliver LNG from Vung Ang regas terminal to the Quang Trach II power project. Unit II had been a 1.2 GW coal-fired power plant repurposed into an LNG-fuelled unit – in line with Vietnam’s 8^th national power development plan.
