The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wazed, said the southwest Asian country needed urgent supplies of liquefied natural gas from the spot market even at high prices to help meet the growing demand for natural gas for power generation.

Sri Lanka has launched a tender process to secure a floating storage and regasification unit to start imports of liquefied natural gas offshore the port of Kerawalapitiya, located north of Colombo, for use by the power industry.
