European Union countries imported a record 12.18 million tonnes of LNG from Russia’s Yamal Arctic project in the first nine months of 2026, up 9.5% year on year, Kpler data shows. Urgewalt analysts estimate the EU’s spending on these Yamal cargoes reached €7.88 billion over the period, including €1.92 billion euros in the third quarter.

The Greek shipowner Dynagas has shipped 35 percent of all Yamal LNG volumes to European ports between January and July 2026, worth an estimated €2.35 billion, after Greece secured an exemption on the EU’s 21st sanction package for qualifying Russian LNG transport.
