LNG and energy engineers Petrofac and TechnipFMC have been awarded separate large contracts to boost China’s energy supplies from the Liuhua oil and gas fields located near the Pearl River Basin, about 300 kilometres southeast of Hong Kong.

Santos, the Australian operator of the Gladstone coal-seam-gas-to-LNG plant in Queensland, said it would invest more than A$400 million (US$302M) with its partners in the Arcadia gas project in the inland Bowen Basin.

Upstream energy projects are expected to double in 2017 while exploration and production spending will increase for the first time since 2014, according to a report from Wood Mackenzie, the global energy consulting firm.
