A US Energy Department statement to the Senate has highlighted deficiencies in the European Union LNG network that could hamper the free flow at market prices of exports from the Gulf Coast and other US regions.

The US Senate voted to appoint seven members to a conference committee with the House of Representatives to reconcile corresponding energy bills affecting liquefied natural gas export projects.
