Asian spot liquefied natural gas cargo values adjusted to the front-month futures moving to December as Chinese demand was seen returning and European wholesale prices continued to be quoted at higher levels to Asia in the supply windows through to March 2023.

Sept 26 (LNGJ) - The 258,100 cubic metres capacity Q-Max carrier “Al Samriya” is scheduled to discharge a cargo from Qatar on September 29 at the UK South Hook import terminal in the port of Milford Haven, according to shipping data. The cargo was lifted on September 11 from Ras Laffan plant in the Arabian Gulf.

April 20 (LNGJ) - The 180,000 cubic metres capacity carrier “Rias Baixas Knutsen” is scheduled to deliver a US cargo to the UK Isle of Grain terminal in Kent by the weekend, according to shipping data. The cargo was lifted on April 7 from America’s newest export plant, Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass facility located south of Lake Charles in Louisiana. The delivery is scheduled as the UK National Balancing Point benchmark wholesale natural gas price has dropped to the equivalent of $22.50 per million British thermal units.

April 6 (LNGJ) - The 205,960 cubic metres capacity Qatari Q-Flex vessel “Al Sheehaniya” is scheduled to deliver a cargo on April 12 to the UK South Hook import terminal in the port of Milford Haven, according to shipping data. The cargo was arriving as the differential widened between the UK National Balancing Point wholesale benchmark and the European Union’s Dutch Title Transfer Facility price. The UK NBP was last quoted at the equivalent of $31.75 per million British thermal unit.

European wholesale natural gas prices and LNG values skyrocketed to record levels over $60 per million British thermal units on March 7 as the North Sea Brent crude oil price soared to over $139 a barrel after the US pushed for its allies to stop buying Russian oil over the Ukraine invasion.

Feb 10 (LNGJ) - The 172,600 cubic metres capacity LNG carrier “Georgiy Brusilov” arrived at the UK Isle of Grain import terminal on the Medway River in Kent on February 10 with a cargo from the Russian Yamal plant in northern Siberia lifted on February 1, according to shipping data. The vessel arrived as the UK wholesale natural gas price, the National Balancing Point, continued to be at seasonal record levels. The NBP was at the equivalent of $24.35 per million British thermal units compared with $6.85 per MMBtu exactly a year ago.

Nov 30 (LNGJ) - The UK will receive its second December liquefied natural gas cargo from the US when the vessel “British Listener” with 173,640 cubic metres capacity berths on December 6 at the South Hook import terminal in Wales with a shipment from the Freeport plant in Texas, according to port authorities.

   The shipment was heading for UK shores as the nation’s National Balancing Point (NBP) benchmark natural gas price was last at around $32 per million British thermal units.

May 17 (LNGJ) - The LNG carrier “Vladimir Rusanov”, with 172,000 metres capacity, was berthing on May 17 with a cargo to discharge at the Isle of Grain LNG import terminal, operated by National Grid Plc on the Medway-Thames estuary 45 miles southeast of London. The shipment, lifted on May 10 from the Yamal plant in the Arctic region of northern Siberia, is arriving in the UK as the National Balancing Point (NBP) natural gas price rose on May 17 to a record 2021 level of $9.70 per million British thermal units.

Demand for liquefied natural gas was high worldwide as liftings remain in the three-digit zone with spot cargo prices rising for North Asia and with European benchmark gas values offering Atlantic-Pacific competition.

Cargo liftings of liquefied natural gas increased worldwide for a fifth week, and likely the highest of 2020, as North Asia spot LNG prices jumped to $9.200 per million British thermal units for February 2021 and North Sea Brent crude oil prices hit the $50 a barrel mark for the first time in 10 months.
