The UK is the focus of Europe’s main LNG deliveries with 10 cargoes this week alone as prices increase in natural gas markets amid future supply and economic concerns and with the various assessments competing for price discovery, including the European Union’s one spot cargo price now issued daily.
The UK’s North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) has concluded its offshore bidding round for oil and gas exploration and production licences as the nation reaches a crisis point in securing future energy needs amid rising deliveries of imported LNG as well as pipeline gas volumes from Norway.
Dec 5 (LNGJ) - Two LNG cargoes, one from Qatar and one from Peru, are heading for the UK with prices on the National Balancing Point natural gas market at around the winter season 2022 record level of the equivalent of $41.35 per million British thermal units.
The 260,910 cubic metres capacity Q-Max carrier “Aamira” is scheduled to discharge a cargo from Qatar on December 9 at the South Hook terminal in Milford Haven. On the same day, a shipment is due onboard the 174,000 cubic metres capacity vessel “Minerva Chios” at the Dragon terminal in Milford Haven. That cargo was lifted on November 10 from the Pampa Melchorita export plant on the Pacific Coast of Peru.
Nov 7 (LNGJ) - Two LNG cargoes are heading for the UK from the US and Peru. The 155,000 cubic metres capacity “GasLog Sydney” is scheduled to discharge a shipment on November 13 at the UK South Hook terminal at the Port of Milford Haven from the Corpus Christi plant in Texas.
On the same day the Dragon LNG facility at Milford Haven will unload a cargo from the 170,200 cubic metres capacity vessel “Kool Boreas” that was lifted on October 12 from the Pampa Melchorita plant on the Pacific Coast of Peru.
Jan 17 (LNGJ) - Three LNG shipments are heading for the UK port of Milford Haven this week with cargoes from Nigeria, Qatar and the US. The 142,990 cubic metres capacity “LNG Benue” is scheduled to deliver on January 21 to the Dragon import terminal from Bonny Island in Nigeria.
The 261,100 cubic metres capacity Q-Max vessel “Mekaines” is due to discharge a shipment on January 22 at the South Hook terminal from the Ras Laffan plant in Qatar. The third cargo will be delivered by the 174,050 cubic metres capacity “Adamastos” to the South Hook facility on January 23 from the Corpus Christi plant in Texas.
Nov 19 (LNG) - The UK is set to receive a liquefied natural gas cargo next week from Russia. The 172,600 cubic metres capacity vessel “Christophe De Margerie” is scheduled to deliver a shipment on November 24 to the UK Dragon terminal at Milford Haven in Wales from the Yamal export facility in Arctic Russia, according to port authorities.
A previous Russian cargo was delivered to the UK on June 15 to the Isle of Grain terminal on the Medway-Thames estuary 45 miles southeast of London onboard the 177,000 cubic metres of capacity carrier “Boris Vilkitsky”. At that time the UK benchmark National Balancing Point (NBP) natural gas price was at the equivalent of $9.55 per million British thermal units. It was quoted on November 19 at $32.35 per MMBtu.

Royal Dutch Shell has confirmed its leadership in liquefied natural gas supply for LNG-powered ships by chartering another bunkering vessel under construction in Spain.
Worldwide liquefied natural gas export plants increased their overall liftings, apart from in the US where the markets were affected locally for natural gas and globally for oil by freezing weather causing power outages that hit US output, while North Asia spot LNG prices rose on firm demand.
Nov 16 (LNGJ) - Two US LNG cargoes are scheduled to arrive at UK import terminals at Milford Haven in the next week with the UK National Balancing Point natural gas price last at the equivalent of $5.15 per million British thermal units after previously being higher. The 161,870 cubic metres capacity carrier “Maran Gas Apollonia” is scheduled to unload a shipment on November 19 at the Dragon terminal in the Welsh port from the Sabine Pass plant in Louisiana. The 180,000 cubic metres capacity vessel “Adriano Kuntsen” is expected to begin discharging a cargo on November 22 at Milford Haven's South Hook facility from the Corpus Christi plant in Texas.
