Saipem, the Italian LNG and energy subsea projects developer, has been awarded two contracts worth $850 million, one to open up a Turkish natural gas field in the Black Sea and a second to decommission energy activities in the UK North Sea.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech that Turkey, an LNG importer, was continuing to prepare for the creation of a natural gas hub for Russian pipeline gas on its territory and a road map was being drawn up and aimed at supplying the European Union.

Turkey has defended its natural gas storage policies as it increases shipments of LNG from the US while also receiving gas supplies from Russian pipelines and from neighbouring Iran.

Dec 20 (LNGJ) - Cargoes are heading this week for the West and East Mediterranean. The 170,000 cubic metres carrier “LNG Port Harcourt II” is scheduled to discharge a shipment on December 24 at the Cartagena import facility in southeast Spain from the Bonny Island plant on the Niger Delta, according to shipping data. The 205,940 Q-Flex carrier “Al Ghariya” will deliver a Qatari cargo on December 25 to the Aliaga terminal in Turkey.

Turkey President Tayyip Erdogan has claimed a Black Sea natural gas discovery by state-owned Turkish Petroleum (TPAO) of an additional 135 billion cubic metres of gas at the offshore Amasra-1 field, opening the way for production to offset some of the nation’s LNG and pipeline natural gas import needs.

The US Department of Energy has just published its latest liquefied natural gas export data with price differentials for the five largest plants showing month-on-month price declines, while two European Union countries Spain and France were displaced by China and Turkey respectively in the overall totals list for shipments.
