NextDecade Corp., the company developing the Rio Grande LNG export plant on the north shore of the Brownsville Ship Channel in south Texas, has given an update on third-quarter business activities and progress on the joint venture.
French major TotalEnergies confirmed its withdrawal strategy from the Yadana natural gas field in the Asian state Myanmar after Thailand’s state energy company PTTEP said it was taking over the operatorship of the gas field.

Oct 30 (LNGJ) - French energy major Total reported a tumble in net income to $202 million in the third quarter from $2.80 billion in the same three months of 2019. This followed second-quarter 2020 write-downs that led to a loss of $8.36Bln.
LNG sales by Total rose 20 percent in the third quarter to 6.6 million tonnes from 5.5MT in the prior-year quarter. Nine-month LNG sales amounted to 23.2MT, up 27 percent from the 18.3MT logged in the third quarter of 2019. “Upstream carries the Group’s results with adjusted net operating income of $1.1 billion, notably thanks to low production costs, despite lower LNG prices and lower production,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Patrick Pouyanné.
June 8 (LNGJ) - French energy major Total has joined the “Getting to Zero Coalition” for shipping launched at the last United Nations climate summit. It comprises over 120 organisations and has been endorsed by governments of 14 countries, including France and the UK. Total said it was already actively working on improving the environmental footprint of the shipping industry through the development of LNG bunkering. It has also recently announced the long-term chartering of two LNG-propelled Very Large Crude Carriers.
“As a major energy player, Total is already developing cleaner fuels for the maritime industry,” said Patrick Pouyanné, President and Chief Executive of Total. “We want to push innovation and foster collective actions with all the stakeholders,” he added.
Major oil and gas companies operating in Papua New Guinea have signed a preliminary agreement with the Oceania nation, currently hosting Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings in Port Moresby, that opens the way for expansion of LNG production.
