Chinese liquefied natural gas imports in March 2023 rose by almost 16 percent as demand showed its most significant monthly increase in 14 months.
Chinese liquefied natural gas imports rose year-on-year by 4.2 percent last month and over 18 percent in the year-to-date period, keeping the nation on track to be the world’s No. 1 LNG importer for 2021.

June 4 (LNGJ) - French LNG storage tanks technology firm GTT has received another order for the design of two very large membrane full containment storage tanks from China’s Chengda Engineering. GTT will design the two latest generation tanks, each with a net capacity of 220,000 cubic metres.
GTT said the order was part of the cooperation agreement between Beijing Gas and GTT related to the Tianjin Nangang LNG terminal project in northeast China. The two tanks are scheduled to be delivered to the Tianjin South Industrial Zone for Phase III construction in the second quarter of 2024.
Höegh LNG Holdings, the Norwegian shipping company acquired in a takeover by Norwegian interests and a unit of US investment bank Morgan Stanley, posted a wider loss in the first quarter of 2021 as it reported setbacks in its tenders for projects.

Chinese liquefied natural gas imports in June jumped 27.8 percent to 5.79 million tonnes, or around 84 cargoes, compared with 4.53MT in June 2019 as cargo flows built up from nations such as Australia, Qatar and Russia.
A second liquefied natural gas carrier is heading for China after the early re-opening of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) from Arctic Russia to North Asia and could arrive as early as June 16.
