Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech that Turkey, an LNG importer, was continuing to prepare for the creation of a natural gas hub for Russian pipeline gas on its territory and a road map was being drawn up and aimed at supplying the European Union.
The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), an 878-kilometres transportation system bringing Caspian natural gas from Azerbaijan to Greece, Albania, via the Adriatic Sea and Italy and whose main shareholders are among Europe’s main LNG terminal and grid operators has begun commercial operations.
UK energy major BP and its partners in the Shah Deniz Consortium announced the start-up of the landmark Shah Deniz II natural gas development in Azerbaijan, including its first commercial gas delivery to Turkey as the starting point for the Southern Gas Corridor to compete with Middle East, North African and US LNG shipments.
