A study involving UK maritime classification society Lloyd’s Register, Shell International Trading and Shipping Co. and French liquefied natural gas storage technology company GGT Group has concluded that inspection intervals for LNG carrier membrane tanks could be safely extended due to monitoring technology and predictive maintenance.
Shell, Europe’s largest oil and gas major and LNG market player, has won a landmark ruling from the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom against claims over on oil spill in Nigeria where Shell is still a shareholder in Nigerian oil and gas assets and the LNG plant.
May 15 (LNGJ) - Qatar Gas Transport Co. said it started the second phase of its fleet management transition from Shell Shipping and Maritime to its own management. The 266,000 cubic metres capacity Q-Max LNG carrier “Al Mayeda” is the first of seven vessels that will pass into the management of QGTC as part of a phased changeover. Shell and QCTC completed the first phase of the management changes in 2017 involving 10 vessels. After completion of the second phase by the end of 2020, QGTC’s managed fleet will rise to 25 vessels out of which four are liquefied petroleum gas carriers.
Nakilat Shipping Qatar Ltd, a subsidiary of Qatar Gas Transport Co., has taken back a fifth ship as part of an agreement with Shell International Trading and Shipping to return management of Nakilat’s LNG fleet to Qatari hands.
