Spain’s Bilbao port chief has urged the European Union to delay its 2027 ban on Russian LNG, arguing the bloc needs “more resilience” and noting Russian cargoes are often cheaper than U.S. supplies.
Imports of Russian LNG into the EU have soared – regardless of sanctions – with most shipments headed to France, Spain and Belgium and a third of cargoes imported as spot trades. Analysts urge EU members states to prioritise on phasing out these flows.

The 148,471 cubic metres capacity “LNG Kano” will deliver a cargo on July 17 to the Huelva terminal in southwest Spain from the Bonny Island plant in Nigeria. The 210,100 cubic metres capacity Q-Flex vessel “Al Sheehaniya” will deliver on July 19 to the French Dunkirk terminal from Ras Laffan in Qatar. The 145,700 cubic metres capacity “LNG Benue” will unload a Nigerian shipment on July 21 at the Portuguese Sines terminal, located south of Lisbon. The 147,200 cubic metres capacity vessel “Arctic Princess” will deliver cargo on July 22 to the Baltic port of Klaipeda in Lithuania from the Hammerfest plant in Norway operated by Equinor.
May 29 (LNG)- The 151,700 cubic metres capacity vessel “Al Marrouna” was unloading a shipment on May 29 at the Adriatic import facility offshore Italy from Ras Laffan in Qatar. The 138, 200 cubic metres capacity carrier “Methane Kari Elin” will deliver a cargo to the Spanish port of Barcelona on June 1 from the Pampa Melchorita export facility in Peru. The 155,000 cubic metres capacity vessel “British Sapphire” will deliver a cargo on June 2 to the UK Isle of Grain terminal, operated by National Grid and located on the River Medway 45 miles southeast of London, from the Trinidad export plant at Point Fortin in the Caribbean. The 147,200 cubic metres capacity carrier “Arctic Lady” will unload a shipment on June 8 at the Fos Cavaou terminal near the French Mediterranean port of Marseilles from the Hammerfest plant in Norway, operated by Equinor. The 137,230 cubic metres capacity “LNG Rivers” will deliver a cargo on June 11 to the Huelva terminal in southwest Spain from the Bonny Island plant in Nigeria.
April 30 (LNGJ) - The 145,700 cubic metres capacity carrier “LNG Benue” will unload a shipment on May 1 at the Barcelona import terminal from the Nigerian export plant at Bonny Island in the Niger Delta, according to shipping data. The 140,000 cubic metres capacity carrier “Arctic Voyager” will deliver a cargo May 2 to the Lithuanian import terminal at the Baltic port of Klaipeda from the Hammerfest plant in Northern Norway. The 141,000 cubic metres capacity vessel “LNG Cross River” well deliver a shipment on May 5 to the Portuguese terminal at Sines from Nigeria LNG. The 210,000 cubic metres capacity Q-Flex vessel “Al Nuaman” will deliver cargo to the Dutch port of Rotterdam on May 11 from the Qatargas plant at Ras Laffan.
Jan 22 (LNGJ) - The 145,000 cubic metres capacity “LNG Enugu” will deliver a cargo on January 23 to the Huelva import terminal in southwest Spain from the Bonny Island plant in Nigeria, according to shipping data. The 135,000 cubic metres capacity “Hyundai Oceanpia” will unload a shipment on February 3 at the Pyeongtaek terminal in South Korea from Oman LNG. The 147,200 cubic metres capacity vessel “Arctic Lady” will deliver a cargo on February 5 to the French Fos Cavaou terminal, near the Mediterranean port of Marseille, from the Hammerfest plant in Norway operated by Statoil.
Jan 12 (LNGJ) - The 145,000 cubic metres capacity carrier “Ejnan” will deliver a cargo on January 12 to the Adriatic LNG import facility offshore Italy. The 165,500 cubic metres capacity vessel “Magellan Spirit”, operated by Teekay LNG, will unload a shipment on January 17 at China’s Dalian import terminal in the northeast Liaoning Province from the US Sabine Pass export plant in Louisiana, owned by Cheniere Energy. The 155,000 cubic metres capacity vessel “Gaslog Seattle” will deliver a cargo on January 19 to the Manzanillo import facility on the Pacific Coast of Mexico from the US Sabine Pass plant. The 137,250 cubic metres capacity “LNG Rivers” will deliver a shipment on January 19 to the Huelva terminal in southwest Spain from the Bonny Island plant in Nigeria.
Nov 22 (LNGJ) - The 155,000 cubic metres capacity “Gaslog Saratoga” will deliver a shipment on November 23 to the Huelva terminal in southwest Spain from the Qatar plant in Ras Laffan, according to shipping data. The 174,000 cubic metres capacity “Maran Gas Ulysses” has unloaded a shipment at the Altamira import plant in the Gulf Coast of Mexico from the Nigeria LNG plant on Bonny Island.
Nov 17 (LNGJ) - The 266,000 cubic metres capacity Q-Max vessel “Al Dafna” is scheduled to deliver a shipment on November 19 to the French import terminal at Dunkirk from Ras Laffan in Qatar, according to shipping data. The 148,300 cubic metres capacity “LNG Ondo” is scheduled to arrive with a cargo on November 25 at the Huelva import terminal in southwest Spain from the Nigeria LNG plant on Bonny Island.
Spanish net liquefied natural gas imports rose to 22 cargoes in October, led by Nigerian shipments as domestic demand increased for industrial users and for gas-fired power generation.
