Jan 2 (LNGJ) - The UK is scheduled to receive its second LNG shipment from Angola in the past week when the “Sonangol Etosha” with 160,500 cubic metres capacity berths on January 2 at the Isle of Grain LNG import terminal on the Medway River southeast of London, according to shipping data. The cargo was lifted on December 19 from the Soyo LNG export plant near the Congo River delta in southwest Africa.

Saipem, the Italian subsea and drilling company, has been awarded contracts in the LNG-producing nation of Angola for the Azule Energy joint venture and for wells in the Côte d'Ivoire where the West African nation is aiming to boost oil and gas production.

UK major BP has reported its highest profit in eight years in the fourth-quarter earnings statement amid volatile forward natural gas prices during 2021 and said it was “performing while transforming” and investing in only “focused” hydrocarbon ventures like a field recently brought on stream in Angola.

The Government of Ivory Coast has held talks on its large oil and gas discovery containing significant volumes of associated natural gas and offering the potential for its energy renaissance as a West African regional hub.
