Thailand’s energy exploration and production company PTTEP, a shareholder in Mozambique LNG, has announced a second successive natural gas discovery at a field in Malaysian waters offshore Sarawak as the nation also aims to expand LNG imports because of growing power and industrial demand.

Australian liquefied natural gas plant operator Woodside Petroleum posted overall second-quarter sales revenues of US$768 million, a drop of 28.2 percent as its realised LNG price dropped by US$3.10 per million British thermal units from the first quarter.

Doris Engineering, the French energy contracts company, and Hyundai Heavy Industries of South Korea have been awarded the front-end engineering and design contract for the phase-three development of a key natural gas project offshore Myanmar in the Bay of Bengal.

Vietnam has logged another natural gas discovery in the offshore Song Hong Basin in a prospect explored by Italian energy company Eni and Essar Oil of India as the Vietnamese also advance with two LNG import projects.

Novatek, the owner and developer of two Russian Arctic region LNG export plants, has signed an accord to help Vietnam develop a second LNG import terminal and adjacent gas-fired power station in Ninh Thuan province south of Cam Ranh Bay.
