Marathon Oil Corp., the shareholder in Equatorial Guinea LNG in West Africa, has agreed to acquire natural gas assets in the US from private equity-backed firm Ensign Natural Resources for $3 billion in cash to almost double its position in the Eagle Ford shale basin of South Texas.
Three LNG export plants planned for the Texas Port of Brownsville and comprising multiple liquefaction Trains and around 37 million tonnes per annum of output are facing indirect legal challenges aimed at the leases awarded by the Brownsville Navigation District for the plant sites.
The US Annova liquefied natural gas export project planned for the south bank of the Brownsville Ship Channel in Texas, and whose owners include Chicago-based power company Exelon Corp., is moving forward on a pipeline development.
