China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group is expanding its production facilities at Changxing Island in Shanghai to address its growing backlog of LNG carriers and other large vessels. The shipyard’s LNGC orderbook increased to nearly 60 ships by mid-2026, up from 57 at the start of the year.

Malaysia’s Petronas has signed 20‑year time charter agreements with MISC Group for five newbuild LNG carriers, with deliveries due to begin in 2029 and continue into 2030.
