Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), the largest oil exporter, is benefiting from the decision to switch to more natural gas as Aramco shares rose after the June share offering and gas plans were advanced by the award of an engineering contract to a unit of Chinese major Sinopec.
The Saudi Arabian Oil Company, Saudi Aramco, posted third-quarter net income of $11.8 billion as it planned future LNG and natural gas as well as new energy projects and reported record one-day output at one of its gas fields and more gas discoveries.
Saudi Aramco, the company with LNG plans and behind the global energy turmoil because of the Saudi government pledge to increase crude oil production, still has its shares trading at a high level of 30.90 riyals ($8.24) on the Saudi Tadawul stock exchange.
Sempra Energy, the California-based utility and liquefied natural export plant developer, said it signed an accord for Saudi Aramco, the oil company of Saudi Arabia, to take a stake in the proposed Port Arthur LNG project in Texas.
