Gazprom shareholders have just held their annual general meeting and despite Western sanctions wiping out profits in the past year and leading to a net loss, one of the world’s largest gas companies has started rebuilding new markets to replace the European Union.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of Gazprom have held talks in Vladivostok with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene at the Russian-organized Eastern Economic Forum amid efforts by Russia to push forward with a natural gas pipeline to China across Mongolia, which is sandwiched in Central Asia between both big powers.

Oct 5 (LNGJ) - Nord Stream II, the Gazprom-led pipeline natural gas project taking additional gas from Russia to Germany and the European Union in competition to LNG, has started filling one of its two pipelines ahead of commercial operations scheduled for year-end. The pipeline will double Russia’s existing gas pipeline export capacity under the Baltic Sea to 110 billion cubic metres, equal to more than a half of Russia’s current total pipeline gas supplies to Europe.

Gazprom deal for Greeks

June 2 (LNGJ) - Russian pipeline natural gas company Gazprom has signed a long- term contract to supply the Greek group, Mytilineos S.A. Gazprom last year delivered 588 million cubic metres of gas to Mytilineos, Greece’s largest private gas importer.

   “This long-term contract will enhance the competitiveness of Mytilineos in the region's gas market and will make a substantial contribution to maximizing the efficiency of our industrial and power assets,” said Evangelos Mytilineos, Chairman and Chief Executive of Mytilineos. The cooperation between Gazprom and Mytilineos began in 2017 on the basis of short-term contracts and the new agreement will run from 2020 to 2030.
