Jan 25 (LNGJ) - The Russian-owned LNG carrier “SCF La Perouse” is scheduled to deliver a US LNG cargo on January 25 from the Cameron plant in Louisiana to the UK Isle of Grain import terminal, located on the Medway River southeast of London. The 174,100 cubic metres capacity Liberian-flagged vessel, owned by Sovcomflot, lifted the US cargo from the plant near Lake Charles on January 13, according to shipping data.
The LNG shipment was headed for the UK as the nation’s benchmark National Balancing Point natural gas price rebounded to the equivalent of $30.35 per million British thermal units on colder weather and supply concerns.
Russian fleet owner Sovcomflot and Sakhalin Energy, operator of the LNG plant in the Russian Far East, signed long-term time-charter contracts for two existing LNG-powered tankers, which will be re-fuelled at the liquefaction and export plant.
Sovcomflot, the Russian shipping line with 31 gas carriers in operation or on order and an overall fleet of 145 vessels, posted a more than 18 percent jump in annual net profits as revenues also increased.

Jan 18 (LNGJ) - Sovcomflot, the Russian shipping line with 31 gas carriers in operation or on order and an overall fleet of 145 vessels, has taken delivery of “SCF Timmerman”, a newbuild LNG carrier with 174,000 cubic metres of capacity and constructed at the South Korean shipyard, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. “The ‘SCF Timmerman’ has already embarked in its maiden commercial voyage and will be operated under a long-term time charter agreement with Royal Dutch Shell, which will provide SCF with an additional $165M of contract backlog,” added Sovcomflot.
The Russian shipping line, which is now listed on the Moscow stock exchange after an initial public offering in October 2020, noted that the LNG newbuild was named after Frans Timmerman, a 17th-century Dutch merchant who served as a shipbuilding mentor to the Russian Tsar Peter the Great and played an important role in creating the Russian seaborne fleet.
Novatek, the natural gas company and operator of the Yamal LNG export plant in Arctic Russia, said the Arc7 ice-class LNG tanker “Christophe de Margerie” of Sovcomflot successfully transited the eastbound and ice-covered part of the Northern Sea Route and reached the Bering Strait in only 12 days.

“We are pleased that the large-scale cooperation between Sovcomflot and Russia's leading energy companies is facilitating domestic construction of state-of-the-art LNG carriers and LNG-fuelled Aframax and MR tankers,” said Igor Tonkovidov, President and Chief Executive of Sovcomflot. “The total value of shipbuilding orders placed by SCF Group at the Russian yards has already exceeded US$1.5Bln,” he added at the meeting.
