Saipem has shipped a key offshore platform jacket for Romania’s Neptun Deep project, led by OMV Petrom and Romgaz with up to €4 billion investment combined. Neptun Deep is expected to produce about 100 bcm of natural gas, bolstering Eastern Europe’s energy security and reducing dependence on imported LNG.

Aktor’s joint venture with Greece’s state gas supplier Depa has signed a deal with Venture Global to import US LNG for domestic use and re-export to Ukraine and Romania. Initial re-exports are intended to start as early as 2026.

European natural gas companies in the Balkans region have until mid-December 2018 to express market interest in the Greek Alexandroupolis LNG import terminal and gas hub proposed by Greek utility company Gastrade.
