China Petroleum and Chemical Corp., the Chinese energy major also known as Sinopec and with LNG stakes including in the state of Queensland in Australia, said it was planning to boost its LNG capacity and supplies as well as its shale-gas assets.

China imported 3.45 million tonnes of LNG in September, an increase of more than 36 percent from the 2.53MT brought in during the same month in 2016 as more shipments arrived from Australia and Qatar.

Chinese energy major Sinopec, whose LNG assets include a stake in the Australia-Pacific LNG plant in the state of Queensland, said first-half profit attributable to shareholders was 27.09 billion yuan ($4.1Bln) compared with 19.25Bln yuan last year, an increase of just over 40 percent.
