LNG importer India said plans were advancing for more exploration and production of domestic energy resources as the nation was preparing to launch a 10th bidding round for oil and gas blocks in August or September.
India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri has called on automobile makers and suppliers to ensure the availability of vehicles powered by liquefied natural gas as well as compressed natural gas on a pan-India basis.
The latest completed LNG import in the West Coast of India, the Mundra LNG terminal in the state of Gujarat, is expected to receive its first cargo in the weeks ahead after being mechanically completed about a year ago and now issuing a tender.
Indian liquefied natural gas imports rebounded on a year-on-year basis to jump 4.7 percent in December as more cargoes arrived from Qatar, West Africa and Australia after previous monthly declines.
