BHP Billiton, the Australian commodities and energy company with a long-standing stake in the North West Shelf LNG plant, has agreed a US10.8 billion cash sale, mostly to BP of the UK, of its entire interests in the Eagle Ford, Haynesville, Permian and Fayetteville shale plays in the US Gulf Coast states.
Woodside Petroleum, the operator of two liquefied natural gas export plants in Western Australia, has showcased its new corporate headquarters in the state capital Perth, complete with Aboriginal artworks and campus-style design.
The LNG 18 conference taking place in the Australian city of Perth will feature addresses on April 13 by the chief executives of French energy company Total and Malaysia’s Petronas, developers respectively of the Russian Yamal project and the world’s first Floating LNG venture.
A leading Australian energy industry executive, Grant King, told the LNG 18 conference in Perth that while $200 billion had been spent in building Australia up to be
the largest liquefied natural gas producer by 2018, the operators and stakeholders will be spending the same again in supporting these assets for the next 20
years.
The one-week countdown has begun for the most important liquefied natural gas conference to take place in recent years, the LNG 18 event scheduled for April 11-15 at the Perth Convention Centre in Western Australia.
