Thailand’s state oil and gas group PTT has named Auttapol Rerkpiboon to be the next President and Chief Executive with a strategy for 2020 to start boosting its presence in the liquefied natural gas business as an importer and eventually a regional trader.

Murphy Oil, the US exploration and production company whose Rotan natural gas discovery offshore Malaysia is the subject of a floating LNG joint venture, has sold its Malaysian assets for more than $2 billion to Thailand state energy company PTT Exploration and Production.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. of the US said the joint venture partners developing the onshore LNG export project with feed-gas assets from the Rovuma Basin in Mozambique have signed yet another Sale and Purchase Agreement and this time with a subsidiary of stakeholder Bharat Petroleum Corp. of India.

US major ExxonMobil and Italian energy company Eni have submitted their development plan envisaging an initial two production Trains for the first phase of the onshore Mozambique LNG export project using feed-gas from the Rovuma Basin Area 4 offshore licence.

Fluor Corp. of the US has started the front-end engineering and design work for a project planned by Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to deploy a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) and build associated facilities in the northern Gulf of Thailand.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp., the US energy company and main stakeholder in the planned onshore Mozambique LNG export plant in southeast Africa, said a long-term sales and purchase agreement was signed with French utility and Electricite de France (EDF) for a period of 15 years.
