Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, the Japanese shipping company known has NYK Line, is continuing to expand its liquefied natural gas-powered fleet of vessels now numbering over 800 owned and operated ships, including 86 LNG carriers.

April 7 (LNGJ) – French LNG storage tank designer GTT and its partner, the Finnish ship designer Deltamarin, have been awarded an Approval in Principle from the Norwegian classification society DNV for an innovative LNG-fuelled Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) design. The AiP was presented to Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and Chief Executive of GTT and Kristian Knaapi, Sales Manager at Deltamarin, by Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen, CEO of DNV Maritime at the classification society’s headquarter in Oslo.

   “GTT and Deltamarin have been cooperating on the development of a new Dual-Fuel PCTC design, able to carry 8,000 units. This design introduces a new generation of PCTCs, incorporating GTT’s Mark III membrane LNG fuel tank and Deltamarin’s expertise in developing vessels,” said a statement.
