May 24 (LNGJ) - Equinor, the Norwegian LNG and pipeline natural gas supplier to Europe, said it was investing 12 billion crowns ($1.12Bln) to further develop the infrastructure underpinning the Troll West gas province on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
“This project will secure high gas production from the Troll field. The partnership’s decision is important in order for us to fully utilise the capacity of existing infrastructure. We've chosen to use solid, familiar suppliers, most of whom already have framework agreements with us,” said Geir Tungesvik, Equinor's executive vice president for Projects, Drilling and Procurement. The new infrastructure will accelerate production from the reservoir equivalent to about 55 billion standard cubic metres of natural gas.
Norway’s Equinor, an LNG supplier to the European Union and which has enabled some of the replacement of pipeline natural gas to Europe in the past year, has opened the Njord field in the Norwegian Sea.
July 26 (LNGJ) - Vår Energi ASA, a player in the Norwegian oil and natural gas sector and majority-owned by Italian major Eni, reported cash flow from operations in the second quarter of $1.53 billion versus $1.31Bln in the prior-year quarter. The company operates four fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, located in the Barents Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the North Sea. In addition to the operated fields, Vår Energi currently holds ownership interests in 32 partner-operated fields.
“The continued strong cash flow generation reflects another quarter of safe and efficient operations with high commodity prices and stable production and supply of gas to our customers in Europe,” said Chief Executive of Vår Energi Torger Rød. “This supports our commitment to deliver on our strategy and a $1Bln minimum dividend expectation for 2022,” added the CEO. “Second-quarter production was impacted by seasonally high maintenance and turnaround activity across our own and partner-operated licences,” he added.
Equinor, the Norwegian oil and gas company, has concluded internal investigations following two fires last year at its facilities in Norway, one at the Hammerfest LNG export plant and a second at the Tjeldbergodden methanol facility, and has submitted the results to the nation’s Petroleum Safety Authority.
Dec 12 (LNGJ) - The Europe-based offshore development company Subsea 7 SA has been awarded a contract by Aker BP for the Aerfugl Phase 2 natural gas field development, located about 210 kilometres west of Sandnessjoen in the Norwegian Sea. Norway is one of the largest pipeline natural gas suppliers to Western Europe, along with Russian company Gazprom, and both sources compete with LNG shipments.
The Subsea 7 engineering, procurement, construction and installation contact is a long-distance tie-back involving the application of Subsea 7’s Electrically Heat Traced Flowline (EHTF) technology for a distance of 13.5km from the subsea location to the existing Skarv infrastructure. Subsea 7 has a long-term subsea alliance agreement with Aker BP.
“This award acknowledges Subsea 7 as a key partner in the delivery of pioneering technology, underlining our proven track record of safe and successful project execution in some of the harshest offshore environments,” said Monica Th. Bjokmann, Vice President of Subsea 7 Norway.
