March 1 (LNGJ) - NYK Line, the Japanese shipping company operating more LNG-powered vessels, said the car carrier “Jasmine Leader” had entered Hiroshima Port in Japan after being completed at China Merchants shipyard at Nanjing. “After completion, the vessel received LNG fuel from the ‘Kaguya’, an LNG bunkering vessel operated by Central LNG Marine Fuel in which Mitsui Osk Lines has a stake,” said NYK. “In the future, the ‘Jasmine Leader’ will be engaged in the transportation of finished vehicles for Mazda Motor Corp,” added NYK.
Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation, the biggest Chinese owner and operator of oil and gas vessels and with a growing number of over 40 liquefied natural gas carriers in its fleet, has approved an investment in three LNG carriers for the Russian Arctic LNG II project of Novatek and its partners.
Mitsui OSK Lines, with an operating fleet of almost 100 liquefied natural gas carriers, held its annual general meeting at the Shinagawa Intercity Hall in Tokyo on June 23, though few shareholders attended and social-distancing was in place as the company pledged to further develop LNG-powered vessels and bunkering.
Russia is proceeding with the world’s largest LNG trans-shipment facilities at the ports of Murmansk and Kamchatka and has signed contracts with a South Korean shipyard to build two floating storage barges as part of the project.
