The Carnival Cruise Line has held a formal naming ceremony to mark the completion of the debut voyage of its second liquefied natural gas-powered ship bult at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.

European classification society DNV GL and the Finnish Meyer Turku Shipyard signed a contract to class Royal Caribbean International’s new class of vessels mainly powered by liquefied natural gas.

Carnival Corp. the world's largest cruise line company, has ordered a second new ship from German shipbuilder Meyer Werft for its P&O Cruises brand and with LNG fuel capability as part of its dual-fuel propulsion.

Carnival Corporation, the US cruise ship operator, has signed an agreement with the German and Finnish shipbuilders, Meyer Werft and Meyer Turku, to deliver three additional cruise vessels that will be fully powered by liquefied natural gas.

Tallink Grupp, the ferry company based in the Baltic state of Estonia, said its new $255-million vessel powered with liquefied natural gas is progressing and has been named “Megastar” at a ceremony held at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.
