European classification society DNV said there were eight more liquefied natural gas-powered vessels ordered in March 2023 as LNG bunkering fuel prices were much lower than at the turn of the year at just over $820 per tonne.
European maritime classification society DNV said that there was still momentum in orders for LNG-fuelled vessels from ship owners in the month of June even as LNG bunker prices increased further in ports such as Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
The largest cruise liner ever built for Carnival Cruise Corp. of the US, the LNG-powered liner “Mardi Gras”, has begun a series of sea trials from the Finnish Meyer Turku shipyard ahead of moving to its base in Florida to begin operations in February 2021 as the cruise industry continues to boost future demand for LNG maritime fuel.
Gaztransport and Technigaz (GTT), the French liquefied natural gas storage technology company, has signed a contract with the Norwegian Vard shipyard for the supply of LNG tanks for the ice-breaking cruise ship “Ponant”.
