March 20 (LNGJ) - Renergen, South Africa’s small-scale liquefied natural gas and liquefied helium production company, has completed an equity investment move by a unit of SOL SpA, the Italian industrial gas company. The Renergen LNG plant is part of the Virginia Gas project located about 250 kilometres southwest of Johannesburg.
“The SOL group has a significant presence in the industrial gases market including helium across the world. SOL also brings significant liquefied natural gas experience to the table, complementing Renergen’s overall offering,” a statement said. Stefano Marani, Chief Executive of Renergen, explained that the two groups had been working closely on this transaction for some time. “It is pleasing to see the results of the detailed technical due diligence culminate in what promises to be a mutually beneficial transaction,” stated the Renergen CEO.
Renergen, the emerging South African domestic natural gas and helium producer, said it planned to hold an auction for LNG volumes to be produced at a small-scale liquefaction plant in Free State province from onshore resources.
