Trafigura, the global commodities trading firm, said its traded liquefied natural gas volumes declined slightly in the past year and while market volatility had eased the energy supply chain remained “brittle” amid changing inventories and continuing geopolitical concerns.
Global commodities firm Trafigura said in its fiscal 2021 report that revenues, earnings and liquefied natural gas volumes increased amid rising prices, partly because of stronger LNG demand from Asia due to low hydropower reserves this year in China and also lower coal production.
Trafigura, the global commodities company and trader, posted annual results showing that its liquefied natural gas trading volumes rose by 26.5 percent in a challenging year.
Trafigura Group, the global commodities market participant, said the global LNG market continued to grow rapidly in size and complexity in 2019, driven by abundant new flows from the US and Russia, the development of a more liquid spot market in the Far East and sustained low natural gas prices.
Cheniere Energy, owner of the US Sabine Pass LNG export plant in Louisiana, has entered into a sale and purchase agreement with global commodities company Trafigura for 1 million tonnes per annum from the Houston-based company’s marketing subsidiary.
