Stolt-Nielsen Ltd, the Oslo-listed and London-based owner of a small tanker fleet including for LNG through its stake in Avenir LNG, reported a second-quarter net profit of $113.3 million before an incremental loss provision of $155M related to the “MSC Flaminia” fire back in 2012.

SNAM Chief Executive Stefano Venier said the natural gas grid and terminals owner would begin commercial operations by the end of May at Italy’s newest and fourth LNG import terminal at the Port of Piombino in Tuscany.

The proposed floating LNG terminal at the Italian Port of Piombino in northwest Italy has filled 86 percent of the regasification and cargo slots even amid a pending legal decision on whether the facility can start up as planned.

The Italian Port of Piombino in northwest Italy, located opposite the island of Elba, has been chosen as the preferred site amid local opposition for one of two floating storage and regasification units purchased by Italy’s grid operator SNAM to improve energy security.

Adriatic LNG, the operator of the largest of three Italian regasification terminals, said it would launch the open season bidding at the end of May 2022 to allocate the regasification capacity available from the end of 2022 to 2047.

March 14 (LNGJ) – Europe's Mediterranean nations continue to be a main destination for US LNG cargoes. The 176,300 cubic metres capacity LNG carrier “La Mancha Knutsen” was delivering a US shipment on March 14 to the Italian floating storage and regasification unit deployed offshore Livorno, according to shipping data.  The cargo was lifted on February 28 from the Cheniere Energy Sabine Pass plant in Louisiana.
