Egypt said it was planning to drill around 35 new exploratory natural gas wells in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Nile Delta by 2025 with $1.8 billion in investments in joint ventures with oil and gas majors and with a view to increasing liquefied natural gas production.
Italian energy company Eni said the final agreement has been finalized that settled the dispute over operations at the Egyptian Damietta LNG export plant near Alexandria and the facility has been ramped up and cargoes are flowing.
Italian company Eni, one of the biggest energy players in Egypt, said it was trying to find an agreement to allow the restart of the idled Damietta LNG export facility, located east of Alexandria, and one of two Egyptian liquefaction facilities on the East Mediterranean coast.
Noble Energy, the US exploration and production company, has explained the solid progress made by the Leviathan Eastern Mediterranean natural gas field offshore Israel since it was brought on stream at the year-end to supply Egypt and Jordan.
