Australia Pacific LNG’s acquisition of the Ironbark coal-seam gas project in Queensland from Origin Energy has been approved by the country’s regulators who do not see the deal affecting East Coast domestic natural gas supply.
Origin Energy, a stakeholder in the Australia Pacific LNG plant with ConocoPhillips and China’s Sinopec, said it agreed to sell its Ironbark gas project in Queensland to the APLNG project to provide additional feed-gas.
Beach Energy, the emerging market player in Australia, said it signed an agreement to acquire equity in two North West Shelf exploration permits in the Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia with LNG production prospects.
Origin Energy, a stakeholder in the Australia Pacific LNG plant, said the facility was exceeding performance expectations as the company prepared to be a provider for a clean energy future with renewables, while using Australia’s largest coal-fired power plant to continue to meet demand in New South Wales.
