Supply volumes in the liquefied natural gas industry increased for a fifth consecutive year and were mostly driven by new production from Australia, the United States and Russia, though some existing exporters also boosted output.

The International Group of LNG Importers, involving 83 companies, has held a meeting in the Japanese city of Fukuoka and issued a statement on the future role of LNG as a clean and flexible solution for a responsible energy future.

The France-based International Group of Liquefied Natural Gas Importers (GIIGNL) said global LNG trade last year recorded a growth rate of around 7.5 percent, returning to a robust pace experienced before 2011.
