Shell LNG cargo from Egypt’s Idku en route to Italy
The Shell-operated tanker ‘New Nature’ is heading for Italy, carrying 155,000 cubic meters of LNG from the Idku terminal in Egypt. The shipment reflects the Egyptian Petroleum Ministry’s quest to boost exploration in West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) concession.
Eni of Italy and Spanish utility Naturgy seek to reopen Egyptian Damietta LNG export plant
Italian energy company Eni and Spanish partner Naturgy Energy Group are in talks to reopen the Egyptian Damietta LNG export plant near the East Mediterranean port of Alexandria, now that an arbitration dispute has been settled.
Egyptian LNG for UK
Oct 24 (LNGJ) - The 174,000 cubic metres capacity carrier “Maran Gas Spetses” is scheduled to deliver an Egyptian cargo on October 31 to the UK Dragon LNG import terminal at Milford Haven in Wales, owned by Royal Dutch Shell and Petronas of Malaysia, according to shipping data. The carrier departed on October 23 from the Shell-operated Idku export plant, located east of the port of Alexandria. The delivery was heading for the UK as the nation’s National Balancing Point benchmark natural gas price was at the equivalent of $8.50 per million British thermal units, while one of the main continental European prices, the Dutch Title Transfer Facility (TTF), was slightly lower at the equivalent of $8.45 per MMBtu.
Egypt LNG exports
July 10 (LNGJ) - The 155,000 cubic metres capacity carrier “Gaslog Santiago” is scheduled to arrive on July 12 in ballast at the Egyptian export plant at Idku that has been shipping occasional cargoes for Royal Dutch Shell as Egypt ramps up its domestic production. The liquefaction facility at Idku began exporting small volumes of LNG again in late 2016 and through 2017 and early 2018 after operator Shell reached an agreement for limited feed-gas supplies from Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company. Idku, located east of the port of Alexandria, loaded its first cargo in May 2005.
From Egypt to UK terminal
April 4 (LNGJ) - The carrier “Maran Gas Apollonia” is scheduled to arrive on April 8 at the UK Dragon LNG import terminal in Milford Haven from Egypt’s Idku export plant as the North African nation ramps up production from new gas fields to meet domestic needs as well as future LNG exports. Egypt’s liquefaction facility at Idku began exporting small volumes of LNG again in late 2016 and early 2017 after operator Royal Dutch Shell reached an agreement for limited feed-gas supplies from Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company. Idku, located east of the port of Alexandria, loaded its first cargo in May 2005. Egypt’s second export plant is at Damietta. The two facilities exported a combined 10 million tonnes of LNG during their peak production year of 2008.
