French liquefied natural gas storage technology firm Gaztranzport and Technigaz (GTT) has expanded business in China by receiving a first storage system order for an LNG carrier from Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai.

Lloyd's Register, the UK maritime classification society, has signed an agreement with a group of six Chinese companies to design and develop an LNG carrier with membrane-type containment tanks with total capacities of 220,000 cubic metres.

The American Bureau of Shipping, the US maritime classification society, built on its position as the principal classifier for Chinese LNG shipbuilders by granting approval to a new LNG carrier design at the Jiangnan Shipyard Group of Shanghai.
