Egypt, the nation with oil and gas reserves and which imports and exports LNG, is now planning to secure large quantities of US ethane made from shale gas to avoid shortages of fertilisers and a food crisis because of an acute shortage of natural gas in the domestic market.
Höegh LNG Holdings, the owner and operator of 13 LNG vessels including floating storage and regasification (FSRU) units, said an FSRU chartered to Australia will be deployed beforehand to Egypt to improve the Arab nation’s energy security.
Australian Industrial Energy, a company controlled by billionaire businessman Andrew Forrest, has signed a long-term charter deal with Höegh LNG for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to operate at Port Kembla, south of Sydney
Höegh LNG Holdings, the Norwegian shipping company acquired in a takeover by Norwegian interests and a unit of US investment bank Morgan Stanley, posted a wider loss in the first quarter of 2021 as it reported setbacks in its tenders for projects.
Feb 9 (LNGJ) - Höegh LNG reached an agreement with global commodities firm Trafigura for an extension of the existing interim LNG carrier time charter for the “Höegh Gannet” vessel by 12 months and entered into a new interim time charter for the “Höegh Gallant” for 12 months from the redelivery from its current charter at the end of March 2021. The Norwegian company had a further charter to report in an agreement reached with Cheniere Energy of the US to extend the existing interim charter for the “Höegh Galleon”.
“The rates for the above-mentioned time charters are consistent with the term market rates for trifuel-diesel-electric LNGCs and modestly above those achieved for ‘Höegh Gallant’ and ‘Höegh Gannet’ in 2020,” said Höegh. The three time charters include extension options for the charterers which can result in back-to-back employment with potential new FSRU awards,” it added.
Cheniere Energy, the largest US LNG exporter with two plants in Louisiana and Texas, said it exported its 1,000th cargo within a four-year time period after the start-up Gulf Coast production.
Hoegh LNG, the Norwegian shipping and project company, said the global market continued to grow as it was selected for three floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) contracts and with various tenders also being processed as lower natural gas prices are helping import infrastructure demand in Asia.
Höegh LNG’s 10th FSRU ‘Hoegh Galleon’ was delivered by Samsung on 27th August.
