Equinor, the Norwegian energy company and the main pipeline natural gas supplier to the UK and the European Union, has brought online the world’s largest offshore wind farm as part of a joint venture development.

Norway, Western Europe’s largest oil and gas producer and the third-largest exporter of natural gas in the world after Russia and Qatar, has announced its 25th licensing round on the Norwegian Continental Shelf for February 2021.

Equinor, the operator of the Hammerfest LNG export plant on Melkoya Island in Northern Norway, confirmed that the facility had suffered a serious fire on September 28 shortly after re-opening following a previous closure as a safety measure because of a gas leak.
