June 3 (LNGJ) - Norwegian LNG exporter Equinor said three LNG tankers, the “Arctic Voyager”, the “Arctic Lady” and the “Arctic Princess” are anchored off Melkøya Island in northern Norway ready to receive cargoes from the re-started Hammerfest LNG plant.

   “Normally, it takes 4-5 days to fill the storage tanks at the plant, before the ships are loaded with LNG for shipping to receiving terminals in various markets. In full production, a ship will leave Melkøya approximately every five days,” said the company. Hammerfest LNG accounts for more than 5 percent of Norwegian gas exports and has production capacity of around 4.8 million tonnes per annum.

Norwegian state-controlled energy company Equinor must fix a series of breaches of safety measures exposed by a fire in September 2020 by June 2021 if the Hammerfest LNG export plant on Melkoya Island is to re-open on scheduled.
