Petronas LNG has signed a head of agreement with Hokuriku Electric to negotiate the renewal of an LNG supply deal for up to 0.54 mtpa for a decade starting 2028. The HoA underscores Japan’s reliance on LNG for power generation.
ADNOC Gas has signed a 10-year LNG sales and purchase agreement with India’s Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) – valued at between $2.5 billion and $3 billion – to export 0.5 mtpa of LNG from ADNOC’s Das Island terminal.

Japan’s largest energy company JERA has signed a non-binding Heads of Agreement with Woodside Energy Trading Singapore to buy three LNG cargoes, or approximately 0.2 mtpa, during December to February to meet peakload power demand in the winter season. LNG from Australia will be shipped over a 5-years tenure starting from 2027.
Long-term LNG contracting is off to a strong start as Middle East sellers take advantage of the 'Biden Pause' on US project permitting. Over 58 mtpa of sales and purchase agreements (SPA) were contracted from January through September 2024, compared with over 94 mtpa of new LNG SPAs and HOAs signed last year.
