EU member Croatia duly becomes latest LNG importer while Serbia starts up new Russian pipeline
The Balkan state and European Union member Croatia duly became the latest LNG importing nation at the start of January with a shipment from the US, while Balkan neighbour and aspirant EU country Serbia started up its new Russian natural gas pipeline route from Gazprom on January 1.
Gazprom expects Far East pipeline to China competing with LNG to start by December
Gazprom, the Russian natural gas company, and China National Petroleum Corp. have held talks about pipeline supplies from Russia that would eventually challenge LNG shipments and Gazprom now expects the pipeline gas to start flowing by the start of December 2019.
LNG imports to Turkey face competition from advance of TurkStream gas pipeline from Russia
TurkStream, the natural gas export pipeline from Russia to Turkey, has completed its first offshore phase across the Black Sea, while the second onshore phase will deliver gas to the Turkish market and southern and southeastern Europe in competition to LNG.
