The world’s largest sovereign wealth fund belonging to Norway, the main pipeline natural gas supplier to the European Union and an LNG producer, reported a loss of almost $34 billion in the third quarter as all asset classes fell in value.

Equinor confirmed that the Hammerfest LNG plant was resuming production in mid-May and would be part of the Norwegian company’s new planned natural gas production surge for Europe.

Gassco, the Norwegian natural gas pipeline operator and one of the main competitors to LNG, transported 106.99 billion cubic metres of gas through the pipeline systems from Norway to Europe and the UK in 2019, less than in the previous year.
