Karpowership’s newly converted floating storage and regasification unit LNGT Türkiye is preparing to enter service under the technical management of Singapore-headquartered Synergy Marine Group.

Singapore-based Seatrium has secured an engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract from Excelerate Energy to convert an LNG carrier into a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), with delivery targeted for 2028.

South Korean LNG infrastructure developer GasEntec has secured Approval in Principle (AiP) from Lloyd’s Register for a modular, multi‑mode floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) concept.

The UK government is actively considering chartering or funding a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to shore up gas storage and import capacity amid warnings the country could face supply shortfalls by the 2030s. The option emerged in the government’s response to a consultation by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) on gas supply security, which found the market alone is unlikely to deliver sufficient resilience against high-impact stress scenarios.

Cyprus-registered Premier Energy’s has committed to procure one LNG cargo of 1 million Megawatt-hours (MWh), equivalent to about 100 million cubic metres (MMcm) of natural gas, for delivery through Greece’s Alexandropoulos floating storage and regas unit (FSRU). The cargo is scheduled for April 2027.
