TechnipFMC, the US oil and gas services company, has been awarded a large contract by Energean Plc to help develop the new Katlan natural gas field offshore Israel in the East Mediterranean.
Morocco is moving ahead with plans for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and several more FSRUs in the future as part of an expansion in natural gas imports amid hopes of more production of gas from discoveries onshore and offshore the North African kingdom.
Energean plc, the London-listed natural gas focused company with growing East Mediterranean assets offshore Israel, Egypt, Greece and Italy reported a more than 48 percent increase in revenues and swung to a net profit in 2022.
Oct 27 (LNGJ) - Israel and Lebanon were scheduled to sign a US-sponsored agreement on October 27 on maritime borders in the new natural gas basin of the Eastern Mediterranean. A statement said that the accord gives the Israelis rights to the Karish gas field that has just started production, while Lebanon will retain full rights in the nearby Qana field. The Qana field is expected to be operated for the authorities in Lebanon by French major TotalEnergies.
The London Stock Exchange-listed Energean Plc, the operator of the Karish field offshore Israel, confirmed that first gas had been safely delivered on October 26. Energean said its floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) platform and the sales gas pipeline had capacity of 8 billion cubic metres per annum. “We have delivered a landmark project that brings competition to the Israeli gas market, enhances security of energy supply in the East Med region and brings affordable and clean energy that will displace coal-fired power generation,” explained Mathios Rigas, Chief Executive of Energean.
June 20 (LNGJ) - Energean plc, the UK-listed company targeting 110 billion cubic metres of natural gas in a high-impact drilling programme offshore Israel, has provided an update on the initial results of the Karish gas field KM-04 appraisal well. “Operations at the KM-04 appraisal well have been successfully completed ahead of schedule and below budget, meeting the primary objectives set pre-drill,” said Energean.
“The KM-04 appraisal well achieved the following: Gas and associated liquids were encountered in the previously undrilled fault block between Karish Main and Karish North and gas was encountered in the A-sands on the flanks of the Karish Main structure. These sands were tested and fluid samples obtained. An oil rim was confirmed in the central part of the field,” it added.
