TechnipFMC, the US oil and gas services company, has been awarded a large contract by Energean Plc to help develop the new Katlan natural gas field offshore Israel in the East Mediterranean.
Lebanon, the former ‘Switzerland of the Middle East’ and potential LNG importer, has Egypt standing by to help with supplies of pipeline natural gas as the nation ran out of hyrdocarbon fuel and cut power countrywide for a whole weekend with the situation expected to worsen.
Australian LNG plant operator Santos and Australian-listed energy company Oil Search, which has Papua New Guinea LNG and oil stakes and Alaskan oil assets, have extended their period of mutual due diligence regarding the proposed takeover of Oil Search by Santos in a deal worth A$8.40 billion (US$6.25 billion) to create a front-rank global energy company.
The Israeli Energy Ministry said it asked US major Chevron Corp. to shut the Tamar natural gas field, which supplies Egypt and Jordan as well as Israel, because of continued rocket attacks on the city of Ashkelon, just 23 kilometres (14 miles) from the Tamar field’s offshore platform.
Noble Energy, the US company with stakes in the Leviathan and Tamar natural gas fields in the East Mediterranean offshore Israel, said it had doubled the volumes of its deals for sales to Dolphinus Holdings of Egypt and extended the contract terms.
