Italian oil and gas major Eni said it closed the sale to Anglo-French energy company Perenco of Eni’s participation interest in several upstream permits in the Republic of the Congo in West Africa.

Excelerate Energy, the leading US provider of floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) with increased demand from Europe and South America, reported higher net income from natural gas sales in Brazil and Finland and German charter income.

Deutsche ReGas, a private company that has raised financing from Australian investment bank Macquarie Capital, is run by two businessmen from Potsdam near Berlin and said it aimed to import LNG in the next few months at the Baltic port of Lubmin.

The European Union was scheduled to hold an emergency energy council meeting in Brussels on September 30 to discuss the consequences of the two leaking Nord Stream I and Nord Stream II gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea that appear to have been sabotaged and to also address high energy prices.

Italy's gas grid and LNG terminal group SNAM has signed an accord with Italian utility company Edison, a subsidiary of French power operator Électricité de France, to develop small-scale LNG projects focused on the Mediterranean.

A European joint venture to promote LNG fuel for road transport, including companies such as Royal Dutch Shell and truck-makers Scania and Iveco, said it plans to expand the network of filling stations.

European natural gas companies in the Balkans region have until mid-December 2018 to express market interest in the Greek Alexandroupolis LNG import terminal and gas hub proposed by Greek utility company Gastrade.
